Despite wanting to skip college and go straight into business, Buffett was convinced by his father and went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School for two years before transferring to the University of Nebraska, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration at the age of 19. After being rejected by Harvard Business School, Buffett enrolled at Columbia Business School of Columbia University, where he earned a Master of Science. 

Career 

Warren Buffett began his career in finance as an investment salesman at Buffett-Falk & Co. from 1951 to 1954. He then worked as a securities analyst at Graham-Newman Corp. from 1954 to 1956. In 1956, he formed his own investment partnership, Buffett Associates Ltd.

Over the next several years, Buffett's investment partnership achieved exceptional returns, with an average annual return of 29.5% from 1956 to 1968. In 1962, Buffett became the controlling shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway, a struggling textile company. He transformed the company into a diversified conglomerate that owns companies in a wide range of industries, including insurance, retail, energy, and transportation. Under Buffett's leadership, Berkshire Hathaway has become one of the most successful companies in the world.

Buffett is known for his investment philosophy, which emphasizes value investing and long-term holding periods. He has famously stated that his favorite holding period is "forever." Buffett is also a vocal critic of excessive executive compensation and has been an advocate for higher taxes on the wealthy.

Over the course of his career, Buffett has become one of the wealthiest people in the world, with a net worth of over $100 billion as of 2023. He has also been a generous philanthropist, donating billions of dollars to various causes through his foundation, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, and pledging to give away the majority of his wealth through the Giving Pledge.

Personal Life 

Warren Buffett was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1930. He was the second of three children and the only son of Leila and Congressman Howard Buffett. Due to his father's political career, the family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1942, where he finished elementary school, attended Alice Deal Junior High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947 Buffett's interest in business and investing began at a young age. Buffett's father took an interest in educating him about the stock market and investing, taking him to visit the New York Stock Exchange when he was just 10 years old.  Buffett is married to Susan Thompson, an American civil rights activist and has three children.
