Anatoly Yakovenko, who originally comes from Ukraine, is an engineer and businessman. He is famous for being the CEO and co-founder of Solana, a blockchain platform. He came to the United States in the 1990s, at the age of 11, and studied computer science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

He co-founded Alescere, a startup that utilized the internet for making calls. After completing university, he spent nearly 12 years at Qualcomm, where he specialized in developing operating systems, virtual and augmented reality products, 3D cameras, and mobile device operating systems.

In 2017, Yakovenko founded the Solana project and wrote its first document explaining his major contribution: a proof-of-history consensus algorithm.
