Career
Satoshi Nakamoto is a name that is synonymous with the development of Bitcoin. However, the true identity of Nakamoto remains a mystery, as the person or group behind the name has never come forward.
On August 18, 2008, a domain name bitcoin.org and a website at that address were registered. A few months later, on October 31, 2008, , Satoshi Nakamoto published a white paper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System", which laid out the framework for Bitcoin and the blockchain technology that underlies it. The paper described a decentralized digital currency that could be transferred from one user to another without a centralized intermediary like a bank. Nakamoto continued to develop and improve the Bitcoin software, releasing version 0.1 of the software on SourceForge on January 9, 2009. He launched the network by defining the genesis block of Bitcoin, which had a reward of 50 Bitcoins.
Satoshi Nakamoto continued to work on Bitcoin in the project's early days, collaborating with other developers and improving the software. He communicated with other Bitcoin community members through online forums and email, but he was always very private and never revealed his true identity.
Nakamoto's involvement with Bitcoin continued until December 2010, at which point he stopped his recognized involvement in the project. He gave control of the source code repository and network alert key to Gavin Andresen, transferred several related domains to various prominent members of the Bitcoin community, and stopped his recognized involvement in the project.
Many people have been identified as possible candidates for Satoshi Nakamoto, including computer programmer Dorian Nakamoto, Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright, and computer scientist Nick Szabo. Still, these claims have yet to be confirmed.
