Telegram Rolls Out Toncoin-Based Revenue Sharing System
Telegram unveiled a series of updates, including 50% of ad revenue to channel owners in the form of cryptocurrency.
On its blog, the Telegram team announced the launch of an update that allows owners of messenger channels to receive 50% of ads revenue in the form of cryptocurrency.
Monetization is available for channels with more than 1,000 subscribers. It will be possible to withdraw funds without fees via Fragment. This feature will be available in the coming weeks.
The authors of such channels can also reinvest the received income into their advertising or to pay for other messenger features. Another important innovation is a new type of advertising that users can buy with TON. The team explained the choice of the TON blockchain in their blog post:
"We chose the TON Blockchain because it has low fees, high transaction speeds – and holds a record for the number of transactions it can process per second".
In other words, users can buy targeted ads with TON to promote their channels and bots. They can also independently choose its context and the channels where it will appear. To do this, users need to go to the Telegram Ad Platform. Both monetization features in TON are not available to users from Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, and Russia.
TON responded with a modest 3% rise in the last 24 hours. At the moment, the token rose to $5.48. The monthly growth of the coin amounted to 123%.
