Hamster Kombat will not allow all coins to be withdrawn
The popular Telegram-based cryptocurrency game, Hamster Kombat, is on the verge of launching its much-anticipated digital currency this Thursday. Over the recent weekend, the development team shared how much of the digital currency players can stake their claim on. However, there's a catch.
As unveiled by the Hamster Kombat creators through a Twitter post, players will find themselves unable to access the entirety of their HMSTR digital currency allocation immediately. Rather, they'll get to lay hands on 88.75% of their designated share, while the rest, 11.25%, will enter a vesting period stretching over 10 months, presumably concluding in July 2025.
This piece of information, previously undisclosed to the gaming community, adds to a series of grievances among players dissatisfied with how the airdrop allocations turned out. Although the actual worth of the HMSTR token—set to be issued on The Open Network (TON)—remains unknown until it starts trading on September 26, players' discontent is palpable across various social media platforms.
The situation echoes the discontent that surrounded last week's Catizen airdrop. Beyond the unexpected vesting stipulation, grievances have surfaced about the airdrop calculation criteria, including the seemingly excessive weight placed on player referrals and the acquisition of keys—a feature that was introduced to Hamster Kombat not too long ago.
In a noteworthy revelation, the Hamster Kombat team disclosed that out of the 300 million players who have engaged with the Telegram game, only roughly 129 million meet the criteria for this airdrop. Initially, 131 million players qualified, but about 2.3 million were subsequently disqualified for cheating, according to the team.
Of the total 100 billion HMSTR tokens, 60 billion are allocated for this airdrop, with another 15 billion set aside for Season 2 of the game. In anticipation of the next full season, Hamster Kombat has introduced a "interlude season" to keep players engaged.
