VeChain operates on a unique two-token model, which includes the VeChain Token (VET) and the VeThor Token (THOR). When network participants hold VET, they are rewarded with THOR tokens, a concept similar to the relationship between NEO and GAS. VET tokens serve the purpose of creating applications on the VeChain platform, while THOR tokens are utilized for transaction fees and the use of applications within the network. VeChain believes this economic structure is more appealing to businesses compared to other blockchain networks like Ethereum and Bitcoin, where increased activity elevates the price of utility tokens, thereby inflating costs associated with development and operations on those platforms.

In a blog post published earlier this year, the foundation shared its ambitious plans to prioritize the financial services industry in its development strategy. They also disclosed their collaboration with Fanghuwang.com, a mortgage loan service under the umbrella of Beijing Baisheng Technology Co., Ltd., highlighting additional partnerships with prominent names such as BMW, Groupe Renault, and DNV GL.
Prior to recent developments, VeChain was represented as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. In a statement outlining future initiatives, the foundation announced discussions with exchanges about the token transition to establish VeChain as an autonomous blockchain. The roadmap further included the introduction of a mobile wallet and integration with ledger technologies.
