Catizen developers reveal airdrop requirements
The highly anticipated Catizen game on Telegram is gearing up to introduce its CATI token on The Open Network shortly, with the launch date scheduled for September 20. The distribution of airdrops is expected to coincide with this event. On Tuesday, Pluto Studio unveiled the criteria for players to qualify for a portion of the token distribution.
Analysis of the game’s data indicates that of the vast 35.8 million player base that has sampled Catizen, fewer than half meet the requirements for participation. Eligibility is determined by a player's accumulation of virtual Kitty coins, sufficient to ascend to the “Silver League”. Pluto Studio disclosed the number of participants who have reached this milestone as of Tuesday.
According to a message posted in the Catizen's official Telegram community, out of the total player base, over 15.2 million players have qualified to receive a share of the airdrop as of the afternoon announcement. This leaves more than 20 million players in the Bronze League, rendering them ineligible for the distribution.
The announcement seems to urge players to seize the opportunity to engage with Catizen, suggesting that now is the time to begin or to strive towards improving one’s standing in the game.
An infographic accompanying the message illustrates the distribution of players across the game’s leagues, revealing nearly 12.7 million participants in the Silver League. Beyond this, more than 2 million have advanced to the Gold League, around 320,000 have entered the Platinum League, 76,000 have reached the Diamond League, and 108,000 have achieved the Master League status.
A mere 10,505 players have ascended to the elite Royal League, positioning them to receive the most substantial airdrops, though specific allocation details remain unannounced.
Catizen operates as a compact application within Telegram, where players engage in a simple puzzle game, matching identical cats within a café setting to progress through levels and earn in-game currency. This progression enables eligibility for the forthcoming CATI token airdrop.
While the exact timing of the airdrop is yet to be confirmed, Catizen has solidified its token launch for September 20. Prominent exchanges such as OKX, HashKey, and KuCoin are poised to list the token, with some platforms already facilitating pre-market trading of CATI.
This introduction is part of a broader movement of popular Telegram-based games transitioning to token launches within the month, including the fitness and battle-inspired Rocky Rabbit with its RabBitcoin (RBTC) token on September 23, and Hamster Kombat with its HMSTR token on September 26, both also on TON.
These launches mark critical milestones for the burgeoning Telegram cryptocurrency gaming ecosystem, which took off earlier this year highlighted by the launch of Notcoin, a tap-to-earn game that attracted 35 million participants before introducing the biggest gaming token of the year.
As Telegram's gaming wave continues to rise, so does the fortune of The Open Network, though it faces scrutiny over its capacity to manage the high demand anticipated with these token launches and airdrops, especially considering past instances of downtime in late August.
