eToro Expands Presence In Europe
In July 2023, cryptocurrency brokerage company eToro received a license in Spain. On September 21, the company announced that it received a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).
The license from the Cyprus regulator allows eToro to operate in all European Union countries. However, eToro will only be able to operate in Europe when the MiCA cryptocurrency law comes into force next year.
The company noted the importance of this step, as most of the platform's users are in Europe. eToro joined the list of major cryptocurrency exchanges that received a license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. However, Binance, for example, withdrew its application, stating that it wanted to focus on larger markets.
eToro has a license from the Bank of Spain to operate virtual currency to fiat currency exchange and e-wallet services. The company has also received authorization from the French regulator Autorité des Marchés Financiers to be a digital asset service provider.
