Paris Saint-Germain Gives Away Free AI-Powered NFTs
While the NFT industry is seeing a decline, some enthusiasts are trying to revive the trend by incorporating AI into it. French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain, in cooperation with cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, announced a giveaway of free NFTs generated by AI.
Fans can get posters in the form of NFT that have been created by artificial intelligence. In a world where artificial intelligence is intertwined with various industries, the soccer club's new Web3 project was not something unique. However, the PSG noted that AI opens up limitless creative possibilities. Artist Benjamin Benichou uses AI in his work and generated 1,970 posters for the new project, seven of which were chosen to be released as an NFT series.
Each NFT poster will be released on Crypto.com with the start of Paris Saint-Germain matches. Fans who manage to collect all seven posters will receive original artist's work, autographed T-shirts and a VIP ticket to the final home match.
This is not PSG's first interaction with the NFT world. In 2020, the soccer club signed a deal with NFT fantasy game platform Sorare.
How the new direction of PSG will manifest itself is unknown. The NFT space is seeing a decline, and AI is becoming an increasingly sore subject for creative circles, especially now that screenwriters and actors are seeking justice from big companies by going on strike. The Authors Guild of America is suing OpenAI for copyright infringement. Authors joining the suit include Jonathan Franzen, John Grisham, George R.R. Martin, and Jodi Picoult, among others.
