What Is Portal (PORTAL) and Is It a Scam? Reviews, Opinions, and DYOR
In this article we are figuring out whether Portal is scam or not. We review the Community aspect, social networks, website, tokenomics, founders and investors, and other important issues of the Portal project.
Imagine a platform that unites games and gamers from different blockchain networks in one cross-chain ecosystem. That’s what Portal creators tell about themselves. Portal’s Whitepaper claims that the project “aims to establish a united Web3 gaming ecosystem.” Portal has a partnership with LayerZero, an “interoperability protocol that connects blockchains (50+ and counting), allowing developers to build seamless omnichain applications, tokens, and experiences” and has huge support inside the community.
Another Web3 gaming story, that’s nice! But is that as nice as we can see and read in the Whitepaper and note inside the community? Maybe we’ve come across another scam scheme that only wants to get your investments and disappear. For now, the only thing that is known for sure — the project has recently been listed on Binance, and gives hype to the market.
Let’s try and figure it out together in our beloved scamometr rubric, whether Portal is a scam or not.
Portal Project Overview
The Portal platform offers a unified access point for Web3 gaming and game-related transactions, removing the complexity of interacting with various on-chain gaming environments. As usual, we decided to address people who might know something about the project and its legitimacy. Again, Reddit and X helped us to find out what people think of the project. Let’s start!
X Opinions
At first, we asked Cryptonica X followers to define their opinions about the project. The results of the poll we did were the following:

Publications came up with information that the coin would shoot into space because of the airdrop and launch of the project, thus, people are very positive about the Portal. However, what about the negative experience and some critics? Let’s research.
There are a couple of warnings from users about phishing and scam websites that ask you to add a deposit wallet, create a referral link, etc. Here's an example of one of the scam schemes:

In general, we see positive reviews and comments about the project. The scam issue here consists of phishing links, scammers, and thieves, who want to spoil the name of the project. Or, maybe that’s too suspicious? Let’s move on to the next part of the paragraph.
Reddit Opinions
What about Reddit? That was quite a quest to find opinions about the project. We also pasted the “Portal” word in the search tab. And, surprisingly, there were not so many publications about the project. Really. Here are a couple of posts we’ve found:

In the screenshot above you see the person asking about the Portal gaming project and another answering that the coin is not out yet. Here we also see the hint on the scam websites, which were made around the original project. However, there was another comment about the “gonna be huge” awaiting the project. You can see it below:

Quite interesting that the same project has such a difference in the Community discussion among the platforms. Here wins X, of course, and Reddit was surprisingly quiet about the Portal loud airdrop and listing.

Coming back to the X account of the project; if you follow the link you will see the huge engagement among the community of the project. Of course, the reason is hidden in the Airdrop and the Token Trading Live on Binance news. You can notice a lot of comments and reposts; people are involved in the success of the launch, and, as we see, Portal coin has huge success among people. The activity of the managers is also good.
There are no other links, however, we still need to check the project’s website.

The Portal's Official Website is simple and minimalistic. It gives people the whole picture of the gaming involvement of being a part of the ecosystem. In addition, there are beautiful pictures, graphics, and interesting and user-friendly features, like asset management of different games in one place and connections with friends. Thus, the website is good! We’re only missing more detailed and transparent information about the Portal Team, Roadmap, and other important projects’ features people need to pay attention to while choosing the project for investments.
Nevertheless, because of the lack of social networks, and still not-enough-informative website, for now, we give the Portal’s sources the following grade:

In addition, as we already mentioned before, Portal has a partnership with LayerZero, an omnichain protocol that connects 50+ blockchains for seamless application and token development. What about the supply of the Portal Token? The info differs depending on the source. The official website claims that the supply and in general, the whole tokenomics, will be discovered later:

However, if we take a look at the CoinMarketCap page of the token, there will be a 1 billion tokens supply in total.
There is no information about the token supply and more detailed tokenomics. All we have is the Whitepaper of the Portal, which, as the creators claim, consists of information that can be changed over time.
