Catizen is a new cat-themed game on Telegram that blends GameFi, Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide an engaging and immersive experience for players. Read our review to find out whether the project is legit or not.

What is Catizen?

Catizen is a new cat-themed game on Telegram that blends GameFi, Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide an engaging and immersive experience for players.

Catizen operates on a PLAY-TO-AIRDROP model. It means that all players' in-game activities such as swiping their cats, farming fish, and collecting coins will make them eligible for an airdrop in the future. 35% of the total supply, which is 1 billion CATI tokens, has been allocated for the airdrop. UPD: Earlier, the Catizen team announced that they have increased to 43% the share of CATI tokens that will be allocated to the airdrop. The exact date of the proposed airdrop is not yet known. On June 6, Catizen's strategic investors reduced the allocation in the project from 6% to 5% in favor of the community. The share of tokens in airdrop is expected to depend on both the production of vKITTY — how much cats earn when they are taken — and the highest-level cat.

Since the beta ended on March 19, Project Catizen has attracted more than 26 million users, with more than 1.6 million daily active users. Catizen has earned $16 million in in-game purchases and donated 1% of that amount to the rescue of stray cats.

The main task of the game is to merge cats of the same level to create a higher-level cat. The higher the cat's level, the more coins it will generate. The more players interact with cats in the game's metaverse, the more coins they earn. Cats of the same level have the same features and colors, and their speed can be increased by purchasing additional coins.

Players can run a cat café where customers can take a kitty to play with it. For this, the cat café owner can get some in-game currency vKITTY. Higher level pets bring in more passive income. In addition, there is a mini-game about fishing. However, there is no value in it, except for additional currency, which can only be obtained through friends, social networks or by paying money.

Catizen Reviews and Opinions: X and Reddit

While no reviews about Catizen have been found on Reddit, there is a variety of feedback on X. The comments on X are predominantly positive, though opinions do differ.

However, some users have raised concerns and questions about the airdrop.

Another user expressed dissatisfaction with the fishing mechanics and security problems.

There are also concerns about fairness and community distribution.

Community, Website, and Social Media Accounts

Catizen has a substantial social media presence, with its official X account amassing nearly 1 million followers. Despite this impressive follower count, community activity on the platform remains low, with most of the comments consisting of spam.

The Catizen Telegram channel, on the other hand, has over 2 million subscribers. This channel is primarily used for official announcements, serving as the main hub for disseminating important updates and information to the community.

Catizen's official website is straightforward, providing essential information about the game and a detailed roadmap. It includes a whitepaper that details the game's mechanics and tokenomics.

Catizen Founders and Investors

Catizen has garnered investment from TON Foundation, Web3 Ventures, Mask Network, Y2Z, SecondLive, and EMURGO Ventures. The Open Platform (TOP) has invested in the game's developer, PLUTO Studio. Binance Labs did the same.

The team behind Catizen is presented on their website. The CEO, known as David, holds multiple prominent positions: Co-founder and CEO of Pluto Studio & Catizen, Web3 Director of Credito Capital, and COO of Yao Teng Investment Fund.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Pierce, also co-founder of Pluto Studio & Catizen, brings extensive experience as a Portfolio Manager, Investment Advisor, and Web3 Innovator.

Stanislav, the Chief Product Officer (CPO), has over nine years of experience as a music composer and sound designer. His portfolio includes work on projects such as Yandere Simulator, Wenjia, Stickman, Dismount, and Project Olympus War, among others.

Catizen's Tokenomics: Supply, Allocation, Use Case

Catizen's tokenomics structure revolves around two primary types of tokens: CATI and FISH tokens.

CATI Tokens

CATI tokens serve as the main currency within the game, mined by players during gameplay. These tokens are essential for advancing in the game, merging cats to higher levels, and maximizing in-game earnings.

FISH Tokens

FISH tokens are utilized for purchasing boosts and participating in fishing activities. Players can earn additional FISH tokens by performing basic tasks such as becoming a Catizen bot user, joining news channels, daily check-ins, and following the project on Twitter.

To participate actively in the game, players must stake a minimum of 1,000 FISH tokens. These tokens can be acquired by completing beginner tasks or inviting friends to join the game. Additionally, participation requires cats to be at least level 110, with higher-level cats earning greater rewards.

Final verdict

Much like Notcoin, Catizen aims to complement and enhance the TON and Telegram ecosystem. The project enjoys support from the TON Foundation and various other investors. Sasha Plotvinov, founder of Open Builders and Notcoin, believes Catizen's unique model will contribute to the game's success in the messenger mini-app ecosystem, and he emphasized Catizen's resilience compared to other tappers.

In early June, the game took first place in the third season of The Open League. In addition, the team plans to release more than 200 minigames. Catizen wants to become a hub for minigames. The team has already created tools for other developers to easily launch games on Telegram and TON. Catizen also plans to launch a game engine for Telegram Mini Apps.

Similar to other tap-to-earn games, Catizen is designed primarily for entertainment and does not require financial investment. Therefore, considering this and other factors, we view participation in this game as acceptable when approached purely as a leisure activity without significant financial involvement. We rate this project as having a low-risk level. However, as always, we strongly recommend our readers to be cautious and DYOR.
