What Is The Pixels and Is It a Scam? Reviews, Opinions, and DYOR

Following the success of Notcoin, a new wave of tap-bots has emerged on Telegram, with some gaining rapid popularity. Among these, the Pixels bot has attracted a significant following, drawing tens of thousands of users to its engaging gameplay. Let's explore the features of this bot and consider its appeal.

The Pixels Overview

The Pixels is the new tap-to-earn Telegram game on Ton blockchain, where participants fight for a space on a vast digital canvas comprising 1 million pixels (1024x1024). The game is open to any Telegram community, such as groups or channels. Users can form squads, define a visual goal, choose an area on the canvas, and collaborate with friends to paint it.

After forming a squad, the administrator can select any image as their goal, choose a location for it on the canvas, and invite friends to join the squad. Together, they collaborate to color in their chosen goal. Each player can color one pixel on their target every seven seconds, leading to a dynamic competition for canvas real estate against other squads. The objectives of various teams will overlap on the canvas, leading to ongoing competition as participants fight for control of specific pixels on this common surface.

The competition will last for 10 weeks, while weekly snapshots of the most contested areas are captured and converted into digital tokens (NFTs) on getgems.io, preserving the collective efforts of the participants.

Additionally, each participant has the opportunity to earn the internal currency, $PXL, which is given for each pixel they place, along with other activities during the contest.

The Pixels Reviews and Opinions: X and Reddit

Since the project has recently launched, there are no reviews available on Reddit, and the few mentions on Twitter offer limited information.

Community, Website, and Social Media Accounts

The Telegram channel for Pixels boasts approximately 60,000 followers and serves as a hub for announcements and player discussions about the game. The channel is actively managed, with administrators engaging with the community by responding to user inquiries.

Meanwhile, the project's account on X platform has garnered around 1,400 followers but appears to be in its early stages of development. The content primarily consists of posts about partnerships, gameplay, token information, and general updates. However, the comment section under this account is predominantly filled with spam.

The Pixels Tokenomics: Supply, Allocation, Use Case

The game also introduces an internal currency, $PXL, which players earn through various activities like coloring pixels, referring new players, and minting pixels on the canvas. $PXL can be used for purchasing boosters that allow players to color up to five pixels simultaneously, thereby increasing their influence on the game. The currency can be obtained in three ways:

  1. Coloring Pixels: Regular participation in the game by coloring pixels earns players $PXL, which can be saved and used to purchase boosters. The more often you paint, the greater your accumulation of $PXL.
  2. Referral Program: By inviting friends to join the game, you can earn $PXL through a multi-tiered referral system. This system rewards you not only for direct referrals but also for the activity of those they invite, extending down three levels, allowing you to gain $PXL indirectly.
  3. Minting Pixels: Once you color a pixel, you have the option to mint it—locking in its unique coordinates—and begin accumulating $PXL passively. While these minted pixels cannot be sold or transferred initially or during the first three weeks post-launch, starting the fourth week, each pixel can be converted into a legitimate NFT. This conversion opens avenues for trading on secondary markets through NFT platforms on the TON blockchain.

At the end of the 10-week period, $PXL will be issued as a jetton on the TON blockchain and allocated to users. Furthermore, 51% of the TON accumulated from minting pixels will be transferred into $PXL/TON liquidity pools on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) that support $PXL.

Bottom Line: Is The Pixels a Scam or Not?

This game bears resemblance to other tap-to-earn Telegram games on the Ton Blockchain, utilizing similar gameplay mechanics, referral systems, and boosters. It seems to be designed primarily to support the Ton Blockchain and Telegram ecosystem.

Like many other clicker games, The Pixels lacks a dedicated website, roadmap, or whitepaper, and the identities of its developers remain undisclosed. Given these characteristics, our assessment aligns with evaluations of similar games.

The Pixels is designed predominantly for entertainment purposes and does not require financial investment. Consequently, we consider participation in this game acceptable as long as it is approached as a leisure activity without significant financial involvement. We rate this project as having a moderate risk level.
